As lavish as celebrity weddings can be, many famous couples decide to opt for something simple. The Wedding Team at Delamere Manor have compiled a list of some of our favourite celebrity couples who decided to skip all the planning and jumped to the all-important ‘I do’s’…
1. Jessica Alba and Cash Warren
Now married for 14 years, actress Jessica Alba and producer Cash Warren decided to elope back in 2008 when the Fantastic Four star was nine months pregnant. A casual courthouse affair, the couple decided to mark the occasion with a delicious brunch of waffles as their wedding reception.
2. Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen
In February 2009, top model Gisele Bundchen and American Quarterback, Tom Brady said ‘I Do’ during a private church ceremony that was planned in just 10 days. With only their parents in attendance, the happy couple enjoyed a home reception where they dined on barbecued New York strips, champagne, cake, and ice-cream.
3. Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher
In 2010 after an eight-year relationship, actors Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher tied the knot in front of just six guests in an intimate ceremony in Paris. To keep the paparazzi away from the celebrations, Sacha informed the New York Times that he had his father pretend to be a famous chef celebrating his 70th birthday.
4. Rachel Weisz and Daniel Craig
A small New York celebration was on the cards for James Bond star Daniel Craig and The Mummy actress Rachel Weisz. Dedicated to keeping their lives private from the press, the happy couple chose to wed in front of only four guests back in 2011.
5. Lily Allen and David Harbour
One of the most recent celebrity couples to opt for an elopement wedding was singer Lily Allen and Stranger Things star David Harbour back in 2020. While Covid-19 delayed countless weddings around the globe, the couple were determined to exchange vows and decided to marry in Las Vegas with an Elvis-inspired celebration, followed by a family dinner at fast food restaurant, In-N-Out Burger.
