October is Chilli Month, and it coincides with the 7th to 13th October being Curry Week. With such a spicy time of year, it’s the perfect opportunity to plan some delicious piquant recipes for your wedding menu. Here are some great ways to please your guests with some spicy treats:
Finger foods
Samosas, bhajis and mini pakora are all excellent choices for finger foods for your wedding buffet. Samosas can be filled with meat or with vegetables to accommodate vegan or vegetarian guests. The most well-known bhajis are onion, however, tandoori bhajis are an alternative to add some variety, as the batter is also spiced. Pakora comes in a wide range of types, including mushroom, vegetable, aubergine, potato, chicken and fish, so there’s bound to be something for all tastes.
Main course
If you’re planning an Indian wedding, you’re probably already familiar with some main dish ideas for your reception meal. Lamb biryani is a firm favourite, as is butter chicken eaten with naan. If you prefer something more South American, Mexican tacos filled with chilli are a delicious alternative. Guests can choose their own additional toppings to their preferences, including both hot and mild salsa options to suit all palates.
Desserts
Spicy desserts may not immediately spring to mind when it comes to thinking about wedding menus, but there are a number of ways to incorporate a little heat into your sweet treats, including Jamaican black cake or a pumpkin spice wedding cake.
