Throwing a big celebration when social distancing is a thing of the past
There were thousands of couples worldwide who saw their wedding plans devastatingly halted when the pandemic hit last year. Some decided to postpone their celebrations until lockdown restrictions had lifted, while others decided to change their original plan and go ahead with a much smaller ceremony.
For those who altered their plans to say ‘I do’ without all the elements they had dreamed of, the good news is that they don’t have to miss out! Although they aren’t an entirely new phenomenon, sequel weddings are set to play a starring role in the wedding industry in 2021 and 2022, allowing couples to have their wedding in multiple parts, with the legal ceremony first, followed by a big party/celebration following at a later date.
If you’d like to know a little more about sequel weddings, here’s some insight from our Wedding Team at Delamere Manor.
Celebrate with a Celebrant
While there is no legal requirement for a ceremony at your sequel wedding, many couples want to share their vows with their friends and family. Celebrants are a popular choice to conduct this ceremony, while others ask a trusted friend to take the ceremony for them.
Choose a date to suit
There is no set structure in place regarding the time between your legal ceremony and your wedding celebration. For those who have friends and family abroad who can’t travel due to current restrictions, why not wait until they can join you?
Location, location, location
If you had a dream location in mind for your big day, make that dream a reality by having your sequel wedding there! At Delamere Manor, we are delighted to be working with a number of couples to plan their sequel wedding, tweaking their original plans but ensuring they have the day they always wanted.
Pinterest, the Sequel
You will undoubtedly have created a Pinterest board for your wedding, but now your day has been split into multiple parts, it’s worth creating separate boards so you can begin to plan how to create distinct identities for each event. Whether you choose different outfits, different flowers or different suppliers, pool your thoughts into a board for each event to help you visualise how it will all come together.
Say yes to the dress! (twice)
The beauty of a sequel wedding is that you get to have your special day again. And if you want to, you can wear your wedding dress on both occasions, it’s totally up to you!
At Delamere Manor, surrounded by rolling hills in the Cheshire countryside, we have a private venue perfect for your corporate event, with a dedicated team on site to help you create a bespoke party to remember.
