Meet the Team – Emily Glancy

At the heart of Delamere Manor is our wonderful Wedding Team who are committed to ensuring our couples and their guests have the best possible day ever! We thought you might want to learn a little more about them so first up for a quick Q&A is Emily Glancy, our Sales & Marketing Co-ordinator.

1. When did you join the Delamere Manor team and what’s your background?

I joined the lovely bunch at Delamere in June 2021 and I have to say I felt like part of the Delamere family right away!

I have always had a passion for helping people, ever since I began working in hospitality, 19 years ago. My desire and drive for this industry came from working within several high-end restaurants and bars in my youth and whilst studying for my Advertising and Marketing Degree at the University Of Chester. For me, having high standards gives you something to strive for and want to surpass your guests’ expectations.

However, it wasn’t until I began working at the hotel where my mum got married that I realised my true passion for weddings. From that point, I progressed in my career to Wedding Coordinator and Events Manager roles across some of Cheshire’s most desired 4-star hotels.

In addition to my “day job”, I am also a semi professional poker player. I stream for Unibet Poker on Twitch and have represented my country against America and Canada on 3 separate occasions at the World League Poker Championship in Las Vegas.

2. What do you love the most about Delamere Manor and working in the wedding industry?

Delamere Manor is my favourite wedding venue by far! As a creative person I love how Delamere Manor provides a blank canvas for couples to truly make their wedding day their own! Every wedding is beautifully bespoke! The team at Delamere are truly amazing! Everyone is dedicated to making each wedding the best day ever for each of our couples.

My favourite thing about working in the wedding industry is that you get to help people celebrate their happiest day. It is a privilege to be a part of a couple’s wedding journey and helping to make their dream wedding day a reality.

3. What are some of your favourite wedding moments you’ve witnessed during your time at Delamere?

There are so many special moments I’ve experienced at Delamere Manor. One moment that truly struck a chord for me was when we created a cocktail in memory of the father of one of our Grooms. His father was a massive fan of “Only Fools and Horses” and the main character “Del Boy”. Our task was to create a luminous pink cocktail with signature glacé cherry and cocktail umbrella for the true Del Boy experience. We served “Trotter’s Cocktail” during the Groom’s speech where the wedding party raised their glasses to his father. Not a dry eye in the Manor!

4. Do you have any favourite suppliers?

My personal favourites are Luminate and Joe Bickerton Photography.

Luminate are the masters of creating the perfect atmospheric lighting for any venue. They create displays that bring an added dimension to each room they light. I particularly love their fire lit Flambeaux which looks fantastic outside our red-carpet entrance and sets the tone for the wedding party.

Wedding Photography is one of the most important things to get right, as its their responsibility to capture those unique moments on your special day to treasure for a lifetime. What I love about Joe Bickerton is that he offers wedding albums containing those hidden gems. Those images that aren’t posed for and show natural reactions throughout the wedding day.

5. Any unusual or memorable things you’ve seen at weddings at Delamere?

Here at Delamere we offer a blank canvas to each couple wanting to celebrate their wedding day. We are very fortunate to have over 100 acres of majestic grounds and our couples love to utilise them in their own unique ways. One of the most unusual guests at the manor was a pair of alpacas this summer. This quirky pair loved our outdoor space and took some very striking photos with our happy couples and the rest of the wedding party.

6. Do you have a favourite season for weddings?

My favourite season is springtime that rolls into summer. I love the dewy look of the fresh flowers and grounds. You get plenty of natural light during the day and the sun sets early enough for lighting to fully contrast against the nights sky.
