No-one wants a wedding crasher on their big day, however, a celebrity wedding crasher, that’s another story entirely! After Tom Hanks’ latest wedding crash last week, the Wedding Team at Delamere Manor have pulled together their favourite celebrity wedding crash stories!
Tom Hanks
Gaining himself a reputation as America’s top wedding crasher, Tom Hanks yet again had a cameo role in a stranger’s wedding last week when he made a surprise appearance at the nuptials of a couple in Santa Monica, California. Watching the ceremony from afar, Tom was so moved he decided to approach Diciembre and Tashia Farries as the two brides were posing for photos with close friends and family. And this isn’t the first wedding the Oscar winning actor has crashed! In 2016 he interrupted a Central Park wedding photo shoot and in 1993, while filming Forrest Gump in South Carolina, Hanks paused the shoot to introduce himself to bride Mary Dunning Chapman as she was waiting outside to walk down the aisle.
Dwayne Johnson & Danny DeVito
In November 2019, while promoting Jumanji: The Next Level in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Dwayne Johnson and Danny DeVito decided to make a surprise appearance at a wedding they overheard. The actors even performed Nat King Cole’s ‘Unforgettable’ for the bride and groom! Check it out here.

Meryl Streep
Back in 2011 a couple getting married at Manchester Town Hall received a surprise visit from Meryl Streep dressed as Margaret Thatcher while she was on-set filming The Iron Lady. The cast (including Meryl) all stopped to applaud the bride and groom.
Adam Sandler
In Montreal in July 2018, a couple were having their wedding pictures taken outside the Mount Stephen Hotel when the bride noticed Adam Sandler walking by! She yelled his name and he joined them for a couple of snaps!
HRH The Queen
And finally, imagine inviting the Queen to your wedding and her turning up! Back in 2012 John and Frances Canning knew the Queen was due to be nearby when they tied the knot at Manchester Town Hall so sent a letter to Buckingham Palace inviting her to join them. And she did! Minutes after they exchanged vows she came in to congratulate them!
