Whilst the bridesmaids and maid of honour have the pleasure of wearing a sophisticated gown as they accompany the bride down the aisle on her special day, the littlest members of the bridal party have their own styles to consider. Here are some adorable outfit ideas for your flower girls.
Match the bride
Traditionally, flower girls would wear outfits matching the bride’s dress. It may be hard to find a miniature version of the bridal gown, so don’t worry about finding an exact replica. Instead, a similar shade of dress will coordinate with the overall theme.
Match the bridesmaids
Young children are often prone to grubby knees and spilling drinks, so if you’re not keen on having the flower girls in a pristine white or cream gown, you may prefer to pair the flower girls’ dresses with the bridesmaids’ attire. A complementary colour will look lovely in photos and will make it clear that the little ones are part of the bride’s attendants.
Style
Flower girl dresses should ideally have high necks and be either long or tea length, giving the girls the opportunity to feel like pretty princesses whilst being appropriate for their age. Sashes, bows, collars and sleeves are all down to personal taste. If you’re having more than one flower girl, each could wear a different dress for a mix and match effect.
