If you have just got engaged you are probably wondering where to begin in planning the most special day of your life. Let us help! Below we have a handy guide for what to plan and in what order to ensure everything is covered for your big day.
Get Engaged
The important part! Congratulations, now spend a little time enjoying this exciting time before throwing yourself into planning.
Budget
Sit with your fiance and work out a budget for your wedding. Ensure you add in some contingency as wedding costs can often get out of hand and unexpected costs crop up.
Guest List
Start planning out who you would like to invite. This will help you to figure out the size of venue you will need. It will also help when approaching suppliers who will need to know the guest number in order to accurately quote.
Venue
Choose some venues to view. Keep this to a maximum of 4 so as not to overwhelm the decision. Most venues will offer one to one consultations and many have wedding open days which are a great way to see the venue when it is bustling (as it will likely be on your wedding day).
Ceremony
Think about the type of ceremony you would like to have. You can read about your options, including outdoor ceremonies in our blog post here.
The Dress
Now is the time to get your dress ordered. Many can take up to 10 months to be created so, get this organised early.
Book Your Suppliers
This includes florists, photographers, caterers, cake, transport and entertainment. The best suppliers always get booked up early.
Stationery
Plan out your stationery. This will be the time when you need to think about your seating plans and getting your invitations out and RSVP’s back.
Hair and Make Up
Book the hair and make-up team for your bridal party for the morning of the wedding. Also, book your hair cut/colour in around 2 weeks before the wedding.
Grooms Outfits
Ensure your groom and groomsmen are suited and booted.
Rings
It’s time to purchase those important symbols of your marriage. This means it is getting close!
Decor
Whilst you may have been thinking about the decor all the way along the planning process and making choices such as theme and colour when booking in your suppliers, now is the time to pull it all together and gather the details that will provide the finishing touches on your wedding day.
Enjoy!
It time to get married and see all that hard work pay off!
