If you love Christmas and the festive season, you may wish to have a Christmassy wedding for an extra special big day. First thing first though, the big question – can you get married on Christmas Day itself?
Legally, there’s nothing stopping you, and indeed from 18th Century until 1950s, Christmas Day weddings were actually quite popular. You may find it more tricky these days though to arrange a wedding on 25th December, but having a wedding during the advent season, if not on Christmas Day itself, is a great idea.
Here are a few Christmas elements you may wish to incorporate into your December wedding.
1. Christmas tree
A Christmas tree is a focal point of Christmas, and a beautiful real fir tree with baubles and tinsel in appropriate colours to match your wedding scheme would make a stunning background feature for your wedding photographs. You could even place wedding favours under the tree for your guests to take home as keepsakes.
2. Christmas pudding wedding cake
A great alternative to a traditional fruit sponge is a Christmas pudding flavoured wedding cake. Add a selection of mulled wine, mince pies, and cranberry sauce for a wedding dessert menu with a festive theme.
