If you or your partner already have children it’s likely you’re going to want them to play a key role in your wedding. The Wedding Team at Delamere Manor have pulled together their favourite ways to include your children, helping them feel special on your big day.

1. Take them to the cake tasting

A fun way to include your kids in the wedding planning is by taking them along for the cake tasting! Showing your children you care about their opinion will make them feel special and they’ll love telling the guests they helped to choose the final flavour of the cake. If you can’t agree, you could always opt for a tiered cake with different flavours.

2. Create a signature drink for them

It’s not just the adults who should have all the fun when it comes to the drink’s menu, create a signature drink for your child that they can enjoy with their friends on your special day. Think milkshakes and non-alcoholic cocktails.

3. Give them a key role

Whether it’s groomsmen and bridesmaids or ring bearers and flower girls, there’s definitely an age-appropriate role for your child in your wedding! Not only will they have a lot of fun walking down the aisle, but you’ll also be able to create the perfect family photo with your wedding photographer.

4. Write them into your vows

Mentioning your children in your wedding vows is a great way to make them feel special and remembered on your wedding day.

5. Let them cut into the first dance

All eyes are on the dance floor at the wedding reception when it comes to the first dance with the newly married couple, so why not let your children get in on the action too? Start the dance off together slow and sweet and mix it with something upbeat that your children can jump in on and help get the party started! If you want to go that extra mile you could always rehearse a routine before the big day.
