American film actress, Grace Kelly, embarked on her biggest role yet when she tied the knot with Prince Rainier III, becoming Princess of Monaco. The wedding took place at the Prince’s Palace of Monaco and Saint Nicholas Cathedral, where the bride wore a lavish dress designed by Helen Rose, featuring 400ft of fabric and hundreds of pearls hand-sewn to the lace.
Queen Elizabeth & Prince Phillip
A wedding fit for a Queen! When Queen Elizabeth married Philip Mountbatten in 1947, she had to save clothing ration coupons to buy her dress due to post-war austerity measures. Designed by Norman Hartwell, the dress was made with ivory silk and had a 13-foot-long train with a pattern inspired by a Botticelli painting. The gown was covered in crystals and featured 10,000 seed pearls which were imported from America.
Elvis Presley & Priscilla Beaulieu
The King of rock’n’roll married his long-time girlfriend Priscilla in a small and private wedding ceremony at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas, only a few hours after registering for their marriage license to avoid detection from fans. Priscilla went with a simple dress she found in Westwood, whilst Elvis opted for a custom-made suit made of black paisley silk brocade and accessorised with a platinum diamond and sapphire watch with matching cufflinks.
Elizabeth Taylor & Richard Burton
Elizabeth Taylor first married her Cleopatra co-star, Richard Burton, in the spring of 1964. Opposing traditional wedding dress codes, Elizabeth opted for an elegant yellow chiffon dress accessorised with a flower adorned braid in her hair. The wedding took place at The Ritz Carlton in Montreal and the most talked about couple in Hollywood would go on to divorce, remarry and divorce again.
Ariana Grande & Dalton Gomez
The latest must-see celebrity wedding photos were provided by Ariana Grande as she tied the knot with her beau Dalton Gomez in mid-May 2021. Opting for a home wedding due to COVID restrictions, the affair was an intimate ceremony with fewer than 20 guests in attendance. Ariana wore a shoulder-length veil topped with a satin bow and a lily-white dress designed by Vera Wang.
