1. How many weddings have you catered for?

It’s important you hire an experienced caterer so they can handle any crisis that may arise. Asking them how many weddings they have catered for will not only provide you with this information, but they will also be able to provide you with tips and advice on what has worked well for them in the past.

2. Do you have any other obligations on our wedding day?

The last thing you want on your wedding day is a rushed service because your chosen caterer has another event to get to later that evening. Make sure they have nothing on for the rest of the day to ensure the best dining experience for your guests.

3. Can you provide a copy of your standard contract?

To avoid any disagreements when it comes to payment and cancellations, ask for a copy of their standard contract before you receive their service. This should also let you know their standard pricing and policies for other clients. 

4. Do you have the relevant catering license requirements and liability insurance?

If you’re hiring an external caterer who is not included in your chosen wedding venue package, it’s important they have the correct licensing and liability insurance. Ask your caterer whether they have these items ahead of your celebration to avoid any last-minute issues. 

5. Do you provide table dressing?

Many caterers offer linens, table cloths, settings and accessories! Ask them whether this is a service they provide to avoid having to find another supplier. Also, ask about their colour variations to ensure they match your wedding theme.
