At Delamere Manor, we celebrate love in all its beautiful forms. This Pride Month, we are thrilled to share the heartfelt story of a wonderful couple who found their perfect wedding venue with us. Their journey highlights the importance of inclusivity, authenticity, and the joy of being true to oneself.

A Remarkable Engagement

Their engagement story is nothing short of spectacular and became a moment of international recognition, thanks to a little help from Kylie Minogue. In December, during the ITV special “Kylie: Audience with a Star,” Craig had a surprise in store for Martyn.

Unbeknownst to Martyn, Craig had been in discussions with ITV and Kylie’s team. Kylie, who was in Vegas at the time, received some of their fan videos and agreed to be part of the surprise. During the show, held at the Royal Albert Hall, Martyn knew he would get the chance to ask Kylie a question. What he didn’t realise was that this was a setup for Craig to interrupt and propose to him, with Kylie in on the secret!

The magical moment was broadcast on ITV in December and has since been shown on numerous flights to America and the Caribbean. It has also been added to streaming on Hulu in America, giving their engagement story an international audience. The couple was even interviewed about it on “Good Morning Britain” and BBC4.  Try and beat that engagement story!

A Venue and a Vision

When Craig and Martyn began their search for the ideal wedding venue, they had a clear vision: a place that felt unusual, would uniquely reflect their personal style and feel truly special. They wanted a location where they could be their authentic selves, free from judgment, and filled with the same joy and fun that characterises their relationship.

From their first contact with Joy, our Events & Operations Manager, they knew they had found something unique. Craig and Martyn are known for their silly music videos, whether it’s for a birthday, marathon, or Christmas. So, when Craig proposed, they both agreed that if they couldn’t incorporate their playful spirit into their wedding, it just wouldn’t be right.

The Delamere Manor Difference

The couple shared their story with Joy, expressing their desire for a wedding that was not only stunning but also allowed them to be completely themselves. Joy’s response was one of understanding and enthusiasm, assuring them that at Delamere Manor, their dream wedding was not only possible but encouraged.

Craig and Martyn didn’t need to look any further. The feeling of comfort and acceptance they experienced with Joy was mirrored when they met Rachael, our Bar Supervisor. The couple felt welcomed, understood, and most importantly, free to be who they are.
